Watch for the new Prestige Cleaners e-newsletter

We know what you’re thinking. How on earth can an e-newsletter from a dry cleaner be anything but boring?

We are loath to admit it, but it’s a fair question. Fortunately, we have a good answer. You’d be surprised at the some of the things we have been asked to clean, and at the lengths to which we have gone to clean them. We’ll share stories about that and other non-boring matters each month. Trust us. It’ll be better than you expect.

But if that doesn’t make you want to read our new e-newsletter, consider this. Every month, we’ll hold a random drawing in which we give a lucky Prestige Cleaners customer $100 in free cleaning.

Oh, and you can only enter the drawing through the e-newsletter.

There. Now are you looking forward to receiving it? Be sure we have your email address so we can send it to you each month. If we don’t have it or you’re not sure if we do or not, please send it to us right away at info@prestigecleaners.com.

How to make a special request

Published under Dry Cleaning on 06/12/2013

Many of customers rarely see or even speak to their Prestige Cleaners driver. They just set place their clothes in our can’t-miss-it yellow bag, set out the bag in the morning, and get on with their day.

We love that. The whole idea behind our pickup and delivery service is to make your life easier. The way we see it, nothing could be easier than just setting out your bag in the morning and then forgetting about it, secure in the knowledge that we’ll handle everything from there.

But what if there’s something special you’d like us to do? Say, a missing button you’d like us to fix for free? A stain that could do with some extra attention? Or a seam you’d like us to repair?

No problem! Just write a note and place it inside the bag with your clothes. Even though Prestige Cleaners is ultra modern and automated, real people run the place. In fact, a real person unpacks your bag by hand. (We do this for several reasons, one of which is to check pockets to be sure they’re empty. We hope you check pockets yourself before placing clothes in the bag, but we figure double-checking at our end is always a good idea.) So if you enclose a note, you can bet a real person will see it, read it, and act on it.

Got a special request? Please enclose a note inside your bag. And then, as usual, you can set out the bag and, knowing we’ll take care of it, get on with the rest of your day.

Blazer or Sport Coat — What’s the diff?

Published under Dry Cleaning on 06/06/2013

When is a blazer a blazer and not a sport coat?

If you enjoy seeing people show off what they don’t know, raise that question next time a group gathers around the water cooler. You will hear as many answers as there are people in the group.

The line between blazer and sport coat may have been sharply drawn at one time—emphasis on may—but if there ever really was such a line, today it is blurry at best. According to one source, the sport coat came into existence when people needed something nice to wear to sporting and social events where a suit was considered overkill.

As for the distinction between “blazer” and “sport coat,” we think the terms are interchangeable. Others beg to differ, and not dispassionately. Blazers, they’ll tell you, have sewn-on pockets and come in navy blue only, whereas sport coats have suit-like pockets with flaps and come in all colors and patterns. Still others insist that “blazer” includes both women’s and men’s jackets, and “sport coat” is a subset referring only to the men’s version.

No matter. Should you place a blazer/sport coat in your Prestige Dry Cleaners bag, we promise not to waste time debating what to call it. We’ll simply take loving care of it and promptly return it to you, expertly cleaned and pressed.

A Look Behind the Scenes

Published under Dry Cleaning on 05/29/2013

Whenever visitors get a look behind the scenes at Prestige Dry Cleaners, they’re blown away at what they see. It takes a lot more equipment, organization and expertise to run an operation like ours than many people realize.

Think about the last load of wash you did at home. Now, multiply that times a few hundred. Every day.

A household washing machine won’t cut it. It takes lots of industrial-strength (yet still gentle) machines to stand up to that kind of use. It also takes dry cleaning machines, and if you care about the environment, you won’t use clunky, old ones.

You’ll need a sophisticated system to keep track of what belongs to whom, and of personal likes and dislikes — how much starch, hangers or boxes, and special instructions like button replacement. Speaking of which, you’ll also need a huge button selection so you can match, and some sewing machines on hand.

You’ll need to know about stains and how to remove them. It’s harder than it sounds, because it depends on the kind of stain and the fabric it’s on.

You’ll need different kinds of pressing machines for different garments and fabric types, and sharp-eyed people standing by to inspect.

If you really want to do things right, you’ll have different kinds of hangers. That way you avoid stretching things on too-big hangers, or having things fall to the floor from too-small or too-slippery ones.

All of the above is required before you even start the first load. Not to mention a building to keep all that equipment in, technicians to keep the equipment running, and reliable, experienced people who know what they’re doing.

As one of our venerable associates at Prestige Dry Cleaners once said, “That’s a lot to clean a pair of trousers.” Maybe so. But to clean thousands of garments, we think it’s necessary.

Now you know a little more about the care we take when we pick up your order. When we bring it back a few days later, we hope it shows.

Hold Your Head High

Published under Dry Cleaning on 05/22/2013

Here’s a little-known fact: It is more energy-efficient (not to mention kinder to the air you breathe and, therefore, to your lungs) to shut off your car engine than to let it idle for more than 10 seconds. We know, we know, what about the burst of fuel you consume when you restart your car? Turns out it’s negligible.

Now, if 10 seconds of idling consumes that much fuel, consider how much fuel the average person burns by (1) driving to the dry cleaners in the first place, (2) sitting at the drive-up with the engine idling, and (3) driving back yet again to pick up the order.

Prestige Cleaners combines everyone’s trip—in fact, several zip codes worth of neighbors at a time—into just one. That saves a lot of fuel. And it cuts pollution way, way down.

So, we invite you to hold your head high. As a Prestige customer, you’re doing a lot more than sparing yourself the hassle of dropping off and picking up your cleaning. You’re being fuel-wise and environmentally friendly.

How Jane Seymour got be Jane Seymour

Published under Dry Cleaning on 05/16/2013

There’s something to be said for looking the part.

In the days before hers became a household name, actress Jane Seymour really, REALLY wanted to play the lead female in the movie Somewhere in Time. So when she showed up for her audition, she dressed as the character, in an outfit from the period in which the film was set. The role was hers and the rest is history.

About that same time, our friend Lee was but one in a sea of computer programmers in a growing company. Programmers are not known for their professional dress. So it was that Lee took a lot of kidding from his peers for showing up each day for work wearing a tie. Yet when it came time to promote a programmer to management, well, guess who was chosen.

Every day at work is an audition of sorts. Very often, looking the part is the first step toward winning — or losing — a coveted position. That’s one of many reasons why leaving the laundering of your shirts and the handling of your dry cleaning to the professionals is a good idea. You never know who may be watching — and noting that you look the part they’re trying to fill.

Prestige Dry Cleaning Steps

Published under Dry Cleaning,Spot Treatment on 06/10/2011

Midvale Dry Cleaning is a process where the clothes are cleaned in a special way. Instead of using water for the cleaning process, special chemical solvents are used. Prestige Dry Cleaners use certain typical solvents used for the process including the perchloroethylene. The special features of the cleaners can be viewed in the Prestige Dry Cleaners review link available in the official website.

The following briefs you on the steps to be followed to clean clothes using Prestige Dry Cleaners. A SLC dry Cleaning machine is built by combining a domestic washing machine for washing clothes dryer to dry the washed clothes. The clothing’s are added to the chamber provided for washing (also known widely as the basket, or a drum). The main component of the machine is this special chamber. The washing chamber is provided with a horizontal, perforated drum which performs rotator operations around an outer shell. This covering is built to hold the solvent while the holder for the clothes is the rotating drum. The capacity of the basket lies in the range of about 10 and 40kg (20 to 80lb). At the wash cycle duration, the chamber is filled with almost one-third full of solvent and the rotating process around the clothing begins. It is necessary to maintain the solvent temperature at approximately 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit), as dry cleaners in Midvale are prone to damages at higher temperatures. When the machine washes, the chamber (commonly known as the ‘cage’) which has the solvent passes the solvent through a filtration chamber and is then fed back into the cage. This forms the washing cycle and the cycle continues until the washing duration. Then the cleaner removes the solvent from the container and sends it to a distillation unit with separate boilers and condensers. The solvent which gets condensed here is then passed into a separator unit where the residue water left out is removed from the solvent. This clean solvent is then fed into the ‘clean solvent’ tank.

It is also necessary to make sure that the clothing is free from foreign objects. There are chances that object like plastic pens get dissolved in reaction with the solvent causing damage to the clothes. Do you have too many clothes and too little space Prestige Dry Cleaners provides garment storage for out-of-season items. The garments are stored in a vault, which offers protection from insects, fire, burglary, flood, and mildew damage. Furs used to be the primary storage item, but today UT dry cleaners receive woollens, household items, and other items to store as well. Clean clothes are the first step to preventing moth and other insect damage.

You can expect good quality of the clothes in return from Prestige Dry Cleaners. If certain precautionary steps that are provided to you via pamphlets are not taken then you can’t expect the delivery of clothes in good quality.  Zip in and out. That’s how long it takes you to drop off and pick up your Prestige Dry Cleaning, one of the best at Salt Lake City. Again, convenience is paramount to good dry cleaning.

How to Search For the Best Dry Cleaner Service?

Published under Dry Cleaning on 06/07/2011

A good dry cleaner is your finest companion. Clothes are exclusive and we need them to stay as extended as possible. Many people are really confused in selecting the best dry cleaner services. How to choose the best Utah dry cleaner has always been a tough question. Whether they want to choose based on the service, quality, reputation, years in business etc. Well, the final answer to all those queries is formulated efficiently as follows:

The first and the foremost thing to analyze about the Salt Lake City dry cleaning service is whether they are certified. The certifications tend to provide greater experts in dry cleaning who clearly analyzes the cleaning process. They are industrial certified pros who encompass major Utah dry cleaning proficiency. Most of the certified service studies about the clothes in a formal way and they provide greater formal ways of handling clothes to a better extent. Just ask the service about the professional relationships. Check whether the shop is allied with the Better Business Bureau. These bands are concerned with your rights and reputation. The counter clerk must be helpful. A decent counter clerk reviews the garments prudently and queries about stains and special care. Indifference is not always a good attribute in dry cleaning. In order to judge the quality of the Utah dry cleaning after picking up clothes, the first tale sign would be if your clothes are not prepared on time. If your directive is going late, the dry cleaner must raise you a call to let you know what the actual problem was going on.

At some shops they give clients a call when they need extra time to properly clean their garments. As time passes, a garment may have persistent stains that require more time to eradicate. But most preferably it must be delivered at a correct time and must be “perfect as possible. “It is not in your best curiosity to ask for “rush” or “quick service” when you have a severely stained garment. You may sometimes be in a great rush that you may not be giving your SLC dry cleaner sufficient time to confirm the stains are removed. In that case inquire your dry cleaner how much time is desired and give them the time to do the job properly. What separates the true professional dry cleaner, from the guy with a machine and a sign, is the ability to remove difficult stains from fragile fabrics.

Good stain removal needs both a practical knowledge of basic empathy as well as the hands of a skilled crafts person. Many stain removal solutions based on chemicals are applied liable on the conformation of the stain. Stains are “rubbed” and “forced” to simplify removal. Several discount Midvale dry cleaning services cannot have enough money to hire a proficient dry cleaning technician and may hire someone with limited skills. It’s so easy for an inexperienced dry cleaning technician to “go too far” when trying stain removal and end up in damaging your garment.

Benefits of Dry Cleaning

Published under Dry Cleaning on 06/04/2011

Professional dry cleaners provide full-service clothing care. Alteration is one of the many services they may offer in addition to dry cleaning your clothes. Midvale dry cleaners repair loose buttons or sew on new ones, if it is necessary. The soil stains are removed by a method of cleaning by using certain types of fluids. We all know that water has the best dissolving power and based on that, dry cleaning can also be used for removing grease and oil from fabrics. Though natural fibers produce good results they are considered a bit harmful and synthetic fibers like polyester also respond well to dry cleaning, whereas they can retain oil stains after washing. Once the Utah dry cleaning process is over, the customer can expect the garments to be like new. Thanks to special pressing equipment, professional finishing gives garments a crisp, wrinkle-free, like-new appearance that can’t be beat. Some of the dry cleaners possess facilities to process commercially required laundries and maintain a separate department for that too.

As far as an organization is concerned, be it a professional or a commercial one, dry cleaning is a good option to people irrespective of their platform. Thus your business and casual attire will look their best. There are also cleaners who possess specialization and mastery skills in cleaning smoke damaged items and remove odor from the material too. This is a safe and effective process.Quality is what cleaners should provide and you should expect from them. Accept no less. SLC dry cleaners use complex procedures and special stain removal chemicals to remove tough stains. Prestige Dry Cleaners is on top of the latest cleaning and fabric technologies. A good value is what Prestige Dry Cleaners provide their customers through quality work, excellent customer service, and also a good return of their valuable investment. They are the best in Salt Lake City.

Wet cleaning is a gentle form of cleaning that is introduced at dry cleaners. They may choose to process sensitive textiles such as wool, silk, rayon, and linen. For example, many items, such as wedding gowns, are often trimmed with plastic beads or sequins that may dissolve or discolor in drycleaning but generally perform well in wetcleaning. Items with large water-soluble stains are also more likely to come clean in a wetcleaning process.

All you have to do is drop your clothes off and pick them up. It is simple and the most convenient way. Your cleaner takes care of the rest. You have to take the necessary clothing to the dry cleaners. You don’t have to take anything else like soap, detergent etc as they are provided in that place itself. Just right: That’s how your clothes will look when you pick them up from Prestige dry cleaner at Salt Lake City. Hence Prestige Dry Cleaners are the best among the Salt Lake City dry cleaners.
